Auto Accident Treatment Checklist from an Urgent Care Center

If you have been involved in a car crash, you may experience mild or severe shock. That is a normal response, but it is vital that you consider some steps to ensure you do not cause complications or worsen your situation.

Checklist for Auto Accident Treatment

Try to remain calm. The situation is bad and beyond your control. The best you can do is to stay calm so that you can pay attention to factors you can control. This is especially true of the decisions you need to make immediately following the accident.

Perform a self-evaluation

Do you feel any pain? Are you injured? Following a car accident, minor to moderate injuries may take a while before becoming apparent. Adrenaline is still running through your body and may hide the pain. Take time to check if and where you are hurt. Determining your injuries here is the first step in auto accident treatment.

Move your car

If the accident is not serious and you have strength, drive the car off the road and move to a safer area. This will minimize any further risk and frees up the roadway. Do not try to drive the car if you are injured or if it is dangerous.

Dial emergency contacts

If the police are not on scene yet, call them, the insurance company and a friend or family member to inform them of the situation.

Keep in mind that remaining calm and taking deep breaths will help you in this situation. Do not panic. Material things can be restored or replaced, and your life is what matters. You will sort out the remainder in the following days.

Getting treatment

Many times, if injuries are not apparent after an auto crash, people decide not to get medical attention. This is not the best course of action.

As we mentioned earlier, your veins will be full of adrenaline. This is a survival instinct by your body to help you escape from danger even when you have suffered serious injuries. Do not underestimate the power of this situation. Always see a doctor after an accident.

Also, not every injury caused by a car crash is visible. Internal injuries, bruises, joint or muscle wounds may take some time to exhibit symptoms. This is why you may notice someone who could walk home on the day of the accident wake up the following day unable to move.

You do not want to go home and then notice your serious symptoms. You will either have to wait to see your regular doctor or go to the hospital. Both can have long wait times.

Seek emergency care immediately from an urgent care center

Urgent care centers are an excellent way to receive auto accident treatment. Instead of waiting in the emergency room, you can get immediate care. A doctor can see you, treat you and arrange further treatment if necessary.

Do not take your health and general well-being for granted, especially after a serious and traumatic situation like a car crash.
